Do wetsuits stretch easily?

This might be a stupid question, but I've been told be a few people that they let friends borrow there full suits and when they got them back the suit was stretched out bc there friend was a little chubbier then they are. The reason I ask is bc I've got a crappy spring suit and I really need to pick up a full suit, and I've put on a few pounds over the past few months as I've not had much time to workout and such. I plan to lose the weight, but I need a suit now. Obviously I'd get a suit that was a little snug to compensate for the extra size, but would the suit stay stretched out and not fit when I lose the weight? I've only gained less then 8 pounds, tops, so i'm not super huge or something.
