Making plastic container boxes more airy for the clothes inside?

I have these plastic containers and have thrown clothes, shoes, wetsuits etc inside I tried drilling three holes in the lid to air it a bit and stop the clothes from going mouldy. Are these enough holes and is this the right thing to do to stop the clothes going bad?
